VOLARY – Guest on Twitter Tuesday Live 3rd January 2012

Happy New Year to you all! My first blog of 2012 and the first TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE! Joining us on her birthday today we had the gorgeous Sam from VOLARY who joined us all the way from San Francisco! Australian by Birth and still very occa about it! I never did get to explain that word on the air!!! Put it this way….Steve Irwin was too Occa to be real!

Anyway, Sam was a wonderful guest and conversed well throughout the show…I think I may have lost my job as a co-host! We found out how and why Sam ended up moving all the way from Adelaide to the very hilly state of San Francisco, and why she became a singer instead of a scientist!

Sam also talked briefly about overcoming her fight with Breast Cancer, and after talking to her, you can understand why she took up singing and doing things that she loves!

Once again we had some fun on the show, and as always we had some laughs! Of course there were parts of the show that ended up in the gutter, like most weeks lol!!! We failed to corrupt Sam as she’s an Aussie so she is already there! Anyway, don’t take my word for it, listen to the podcast and hear for yourself! http://www.butterfliesradio.com/home/twitter-tuesday-live/

Sam has been supporting Butterflies Radio for a long time now and it was great to finally have her has a guest on the show!

During the 2 hour show we featured three of her songs all or which can be requested on the home page of our web site http://www.butterfliesradio.com

DIE A LITTLE MORE

This song was born from a dark period in my life, when I was holding on by my fingertips, waiting for the storm to pass. It felt like a little bit more of me was dying every day, hence the name of the song. If you’re looking for a cheerful song this is definitely not it, but a lot of people seem to like it. I hope that means that there’s something in this song that speaks to them and for them.

BLACKBIRD FLY

We’re getting more hopeful! This song was written to remind myself not to let my life be governed by other people’s ideas of who I am, what I should be doing, and who I ought to be. To be happy, we need to follow our dreams and our hearts. We don’t need to accept that life has to stay the way that it is. We have the power to change it, and it’s never too late.

LOVE AND TRAGEDY

This is a love song, despite the fact that it’s got the word ‘tragedy’ in the title. Usually if I try to write a love song, it’s so sickly sweet that it makes me want to puke. So to write something that I could bear to listen to, I wrote about how my life used to be a catastrophe and a tragedy before finding love.

This song is the last song on the Country for a Cause CD, which supports the Shade Tree Shelter for abused women, children, and their pets. I’m so glad that Billy Kay invited me to contribute to this cause and hope that this CD will help many who wouldn’t have any other place to turn.

If all of these songs feel like they’re too heavy, I’d encourage you to go check out the Cat Christmas Song video, which is on Butterflies Radio’s Indie Train website. It’s a really goofy, fluffy piece of fun, and I hope that it makes you smile.

Check out all the social web pages for VOLARY and listen to more of her music. Sam is an awesome person and does what she does with passion!
