Mark and I amazed ourselves that we made it to the 100th episode of TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE without killing each other! Lol This show has been a lot of fun; we have had many awesome guests since we first began.
To help celebrate this milestone for BUTTERFLIES RADIO we thought we would do something different, so we invited our regular guests, the ones that tune in week after week to listen to the show and the ones that give us the most support!
We also gave away some prizes one of which was a pair of airline tickets; we also gave out some tickets to the ARTIST IN MUSIC AWARDS which are taking place at the KEY CLUB in HOLLYWOOD on 7th February 2012.
Mark also got the surprise of his life when his wife Julie tweeted for the first time ever and for once almost made him speechless! Then, half way through the show he also got a pizza delivered from a previous guest (Billy Kay)
We also got messages from AWAIT RESCUE and JASON SIZEMORE
Below is a summary of the show, however TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE is better heard so check out this link and listen for yourself http://www.butterfliesradio.com/home/twitter-tuesday-live/
Mark took us back to the very first song every played on TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE which aired on 29th September 2010, a band out of Indonesia called JOY N THE RHYTHM SYSTEM who are now unfortunately in hiatus! Check Gunter out….sorry I mean Mark, he sounded so young!!!
We could not let the show go by without playing a tribute to the 20 children and 6 adults that were shot down at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut on Friday 14th December. It will be a day that nobody will forget!
Mark and I thought it fitting to play the song WEEP by WHY as we all took a few moments to remember those lost is this horrible tragedy!
BRIAN COOK from the band WHY fromWinnipeg Canada finally managed to join us on the air after a little trouble with Skype! He told us a bit about their song WEEP, and who it was originally written for and the meaning behind the lyrics. Brian is such a great guy and a big supporter of the show. Always tunes in when he can. We hope one day to have him and his band on as a guest!
Our next guest is a long-time friend and one that has helped Mark on several technical issues RICH WILDMAN. Rich is the man behind MUSIC SCENE INVESTIGATIONS along with IAN HUSBANDS and TOM CHIANTI which airs every Sunday at 4pm EST. Rich and Ian were guests on our show on 23rd July 2011 one day I won’t forget as I had to get up at some unearthly time of the morning! Tom also guested on our show with his partner ALANA BURNER on 13th September 2011.
Rich is such a funny guy and during our live show he tweets some funny things! Tunes in every week to hear the show. He describes TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE as a Sitcom/Drama for radio, and you have to stay to the end as you never know what is going to happen!
Butterflies Radio airs the MSI weekly show every Thursday at 12pm and 8pm EDT
Check out the gang from MUSIC SCENE INVESTIGATIONS and if you are a band reading this, send over your music to them http://www.musicsceneinvestigation.com
We asked all of our guests today to choose a song from a previous guest, however due to the British Mafia who have connections in the USA, Rich thought it best to choose a song from Ian’s old band FREQ 1 C, so he chose the song MACHINE. Like Rich and Tom, Ian is an awesome guy from London, and Mark and I have enjoyed being guest panellists on MUSIC SCENE INVESTIGATION.(he is 2nd from right at the back)
Next to join us was WAYNE BENSON from Boston, owner of another independent radio station KRANKIT RADIO. Like Mark and I,he shares our passion for independent musicians and works hard to get the word out around the globe. Wayne tunes in every week to hear the show, and is at a loss if for some reason we don’t go to air! He says he has learned a lot from us and has now started doing live shows for himself!
I think Kiva has fallen in love with his voice; he does have a great DJ voice and could give Gunter a run for his money!! Mark and I look forward to having him back as a guest on our show during 2013. Wayne also replays our live show every Wednesday’s 11am EDT
Wayne’s song choice today was SEVEN SEAS by IN AIR– awesome band whom we had the pleasure to meet in February in L.A for the 2012 ARTIST IN MUSIC AWARDS and who we shall be meeting again at the 2013 awards! In Air joined us as guests on 13th November 2012
JEANNE GIDDENS a radio host in her own right joined us from Massachusetts. Through the wonders of TWITTER and talking to fellow tweeters she found our live show, listened in, thought it a very funny show, and has been tuned in ever since! Jeanne has her own show called TUNE TALKS is a show playing mainstream music and picks a theme and plays music accordingly! We are hoping in the near future that we can get a show up and running on Butterflies Radio for the same concept using independent artists.
We are pleased to announce that Jeanne won a pair of airline tickets during the show and also 2 tickets to the 2013 AIMA, so who knows, Mark and I might just meet up with her in L.A. That would be pretty awesome!
Check out TUNE TALKS with Jeanne: http://www.tunetalkswithjeanne.com
MIKE GROSSHANDLER – BLUE SKIES BLACK was Jeanne’s song choice. Mike was a guest on our show on 2nd October 2012 when he was multi- tasking and babysitting while doing the interview. Awesome guy and a great guest!
LYDIA NICOLAIDES from ROSE RED AND THE BUTTERFLIES has been our favourite little pixie since the time of the Darth Vader episode! She listens in regularly from the comfort of her bed in London and 9 times out of 10 falls asleep and has to listen to the rest of the show via our podcast! Big time supporter of the show and we love her so much Lydia is a folk singer and we have a couple of her tunes on our rotation. She is a shy little pixie though and so she made a pre-recorded message for the show today, probably a good idea as she would have fallen asleep!
Check out ROSERED AND THE BUTTERFLIES http://www.roseredmusic.com
Lydia’s choice today was from Australian singer BRONI who joined Mark and I on 21st June 2011– and the song she wanted to hear was SHMILY
Broni describes himself as “Just an ordinary bloke from Melbourne” and we look forward to having him back on the show sometime in the New Year!
is one of the hardest working people I know in today’s Independent music industry. When I asked Walter to guest on our 100th show, he was a bit dubious, however he did a great job and Mark and I are certainly going to ask him to do a full show with us sometime in the future. Walter drew the short straw and got the dreaded Desert Island Question, however he was well prepared with his answers and I think he could probably last on the island for at least 5 years! Lol
Walter drives the INDIE MUSIC BUS all over the world http://indiemusicbus.com/ and can be found supporting artists on TWITTER https://twitter.com/IndieMusicBus and FACEBOOK http://www.facebook.com/IndieMusicBus?fref=ts
Walter’s song choice for today’s show was SPACESHIP DAYS with their awesome song HANGING FROM THE SATELLITES Mark and I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck and Greg back in February when we were in L.A for the 2012 AIMA’s, great guys! They have been guests twice on our show, the first time with Chuck on 29th March 2011 then with Greg 1st May 2012 (Unfortunately Chuck had connection problems that day)
Next up was Butterflies very own KIVA JOHNS ADKINS! Kiva plays a very big part in the BUTTERFLIES RADIO A&R team and works extremely hard with all our music submissions that are sent to the station. She also has her own show which airs every Monday at 8pm EST called INDIE ARTISTS SPOTLIGHT it is a pre-recorded show and Kiva has interviewed many many artists.
Kiva is fun, and has stepped into my shoes on several occasions when I have been away and she can keep Mark in check better than I can! She was also a guest on the show on 2nd August 2011
BOSCO AND PECK – NO GUARANTEE being Kiva’s choice for the show. Kiva has interviewed these guys and found them as hilarious as we did when they came on our show.
BOSCO AND PECK first appeared on 26th April 2011 then stood in for me on 26th May 2011 (The episode with the Glee Glue) then we dared to have them back for a 3rd round on 31st July 2012. These guys have been a great support for Butterflies Radio, not only are they great musicians they have a great sense of humour. A class act with a comedy twist!
MATTER OF FACT were welcomed back for the second time on TWITTER TUESDAY LIVE albeit for a few minutes to introduce their brand new song! We were lucky enough today to have all four members join us today, Bekah and Mike Lyons (Left) Mark Shively (top right) and Don Meuller (bottom right)
My husband Mark stood in as host when MATTER OF FACT joined the show live on 14th February 2012 while I was in transit back from the USA, even though he did a good job, I feel bummed that I didn’t get to interview them!
It was nice to finally meet all the members, who always tune in and support us week after week. Mark cracks us up by asking if any of our guests need a drummer or an opener!
They talked about their new album which will be released in the new year, and we look forward to having them back on the show to present some of the new songs featured on it. This time I will be able to host them! Yay!
Today we got to hear their brand new single, premièring today called LOOK AT ME, I think it was made for Mark L to be honest, oops did I say that out loud! This makes the 7th song of the band on our rotation!
Thanks guys for joining us, I know it was short and sweet, but so nice to finally get to meet you all!
Check out MATTER OF FACT: http://www.mofband.com
Last but not least, joining us from our lounge room was my husband –MARK RIORDAN aka SKULLYMEISTER aka SKULLY WIKI. We were pleased that his work decided to give him today off as he was able to make the show. I could not do what I do with the station without the backing of this man; he has always given me 100% support! He is amazes people on twitter with all his musical facts and knowledge. Mark is also part of Butterflies A&R team and will be joining Mark and I at the 2013 AIMA’s in L.A.
Marks web page can be found under www.oddjobman.com
Mark chose DREAMER by KENNI DeNILE as his song for today’s show. Kenni was a guest on 6th September 2011 and he was a true rock star with some very interesting stories to tell! Good job there is a declaimer on our podcast!
We closed our 100th show with JAMIE ALIMORAD – THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID. Jamie is an awesome artist from NEW YORK who has guested on the show twice 1st November 2011 and 10th April 2012. He is up for nomination at the 2013 ARTIST IN MUSIC AWARDS for BEST POP ARTIST and Mark and I are so excited that we finally get to meet Jamie! He was an awesome guest and for someone so young, he has a wealth of musical knowledge! The song I chose today was from his new album WORDS LEFT UNSAID. Check out Jamie for yourself http://jamiealimorad.com
